Functional neurosurgery
Functional neurosurgery is a rapidly developing high–tech field of neurosurgery. Currently, a transition is underway from destructive treatment methods (treatment aimed at destroying nerve structures) to neuromodulatory techniques.
Neuromodulation is a change in the activity of the nervous system by means of electrical or medicinal effects using implantable devices. Thin electrodes (less than 2 mm) are installed in close proximity to nerve structures for weak electrical impulses.
These techniques are used to treat the following diseases:
- chronic back pain, heart pain (angina pectoris), pain after limb amputation ("phantom" pain), trigeminal nerve pain, severe headaches (migraines), pain after damage to peripheral nerves;
- critical limb ischemia: Raynaud's disease, diabetic angiopathy, Lerish syndrome, and others;
- Parkinson's disease,
- Turret's syndrome,
- cerebral palsy,
- spastic paresis,
- some types of epilepsy.
The effectiveness of the technique: 50 to 90% of patients experience a decrease in the severity of motor disorders or their complete disappearance, a decrease in pain, and a return to professional work, 70 to 90% of patients reduce the amount of medications they take.
The success of treatment largely depends on the professional work of neurosurgeons, neurologists, orthopedists, rehabilitologists and doctors of other specialties, whose competence includes the main part of the complex treatment of the patient. At the European Medical Center Neurosurgery Centeryou can receive comprehensive medical support from the diagnostic stage to postoperative rehabilitation.

I express my gratitude for the treatment!
He came back with severe pain in the neck. The diagnosis revealed an intervertebral
hernia. The very next day, the operation was carried out, everything was very fast. After the operation, he was surrounded by nurses. I would especially like to express my gratitude to:
Krivoshapkin Alexey Leonidovich, Yulia Markina, Vladimir Klimov, Orkhan Abdullayev, Gleb Sergeevich Sergeev, and Alexander Loginov.
