Phlebology
Phlebology is a field of medicine that deals with the diagnosis, treatment, and prevention of venous diseases. The EMC Heart and Vascular Clinic is equipped with modern equipment and operates according to international quality standards. Specialists are waiting for you here, ready to help with any pathologies of the venous system in order to restore the beauty and health of your legs.
What diseases does a phlebologist treat
A phlebologist is engaged in the diagnosis and treatment of various diseases of the venous system. Among the most common diseases that fall within the area of responsibility of this doctor are the following:
-
varicose veins or varicose veins of the lower extremities are a chronic disease in which the veins expand and deform due to malfunction of their valves; chronic venous insufficiency is formed – a condition in which the outflow of blood from the legs is disrupted, leading to swelling, pain, and other unpleasant symptoms;
-
thrombophlebitis of superficial veins;
-
deep vein thrombosis of the lower extremities is a dangerous disease in which there is a possibility of thrombus rupture with the development of a pulmonary embolism.;
-
Post-thrombophlebitic disease is the consequences of deep vein thrombosis of the lower extremities, in which blood circulation is significantly disrupted, up to the development of trophic skin changes.;
-
venous trophic ulcers are long–term non-healing wounds on the skin of the legs caused by impaired venous circulation;
-
Varicose veins of the pelvis are one of the causes of chronic pelvic pain, disorders of the pelvic organs.
Chronic venous diseases are not only aesthetic problems. Pathological changes lead to impaired blood supply to tissues, which leads to complications. In addition, the formation of blood clots also poses a threat to life. That is why any such conditions require medical attention..
When to see a doctor
Varicose veins are usually accompanied by unpleasant symptoms that patients notice at an early stage of the disease. It is necessary to consult a phlebologist if you observe one or more signs of varicose veins.:
-
feeling of heaviness in the legs, increased fatigue;
-
swelling of the legs, which increases in the evening or occurs after prolonged standing, sitting;
-
the appearance of dilated, "bulging" vessels on the legs that protrude above the surface of the skin;
-
the appearance of a network of small vessels on the skin, the so-called "vascular asterisks";
-
aching leg pains that worsen in the evening, increased fatigue;
-
the appearance of pigmented spots, dermatitis, eczema or trophic ulcers on the skin of the lower extremities;
-
sharp pain, swelling, redness of the skin in the vascular area;
-
night cramps.
Every third woman and every fifth man has varicose veins. No other disease is more common. Complications of varicose veins significantly worsen the quality of life of patients, not to mention the aesthetic component. Patients at risk should visit a phlebologist prophylactically at least once a year. These are people with unfavorable heredity, overweight, sedentary sedentary work. Circulatory disorders are also noted in people who are forced to stand for long periods. The risk of developing varicose veins and thrombosis increases during pregnancy.
Diagnostic and treatment methods
The main method of diagnosing diseases is ultrasound (duplex scanning). This is a painless procedure that allows you to assess the condition of blood vessels, determine the speed of blood flow, identify changes, and rule out thrombosis. We offer our patients to undergo an examination, and if a pathology is detected, we will offer the most modern treatment.
At the EMC Heart and Vascular Clinic, we use the most advanced minimally invasive medical techniques to achieve excellent results with excellent cosmetic effect. There is no recovery and rehabilitation period – the patient can immediately return to normal life.
Depending on the stage of the disease, its clinical variant, the general state of health, as well as the concomitant pathology of the patient, our phlebologists use the following treatment methods:
Microsclerotherapy is a technique for removing reticular veins, "vascular asterisks" by injecting a special drug that causes small vessels to "stick together", followed by the disappearance of undesirable manifestations.

Percutaneous laser coagulation using a special neodymium laser. A minimally invasive method that allows you to remove the smallest defects.

Micropenic sclerotherapy under ultrasound control (UGFS). Injection of a special foam into the affected vein, causing it to "stick together" with further resorption under the control of an ultrasound scanner.

Endovenous laser coagulation (EVLC, EVLT) is the "gold standard" of modern treatment of varicose veins. It is carried out on modern high-tech equipment by "sealing" large varicose veins with a laser. It is a minimally invasive alternative to traumatic surgery – phlebectomy. The operation is performed through a puncture under local anesthesia, leaving no traces of interference. The patient can immediately return to the usual rhythm of life.

Radio frequency obliteration VNUS Closure FAST (RFO). Another modern technological method in which the vessel is sealed using a radiofrequency catheter. A highly effective technique that also allows the patient to return to life without restrictions immediately after the procedure.

Vena Seal adhesive closure of varicose veins is the newest treatment method in which the affected vessel is sealed with special glue.
Miniflebectomy using the Muller and Varadi methods is the removal of varicose veins using unique tools that do not leave scars.
All medical techniques used have proven effectiveness, allowing the treatment of varicose veins in patients of all age categories, including in the presence of concomitant chronic diseases.
