Department of Pathology of Newborns

The EMC Department of Neonatal Pathology provides a range of medical care in the treatment and care of full-term babies and children with low body weight.

The department provides examination, treatment and rehabilitation of newborns with various diseases.:

• viral and bacterial infections;

• with congenital metabolic disorders;

• neonatal jaundice of various etiologies;

• transient hematological disorders.

Special attention is paid to breastfeeding support. If for some reason the mother is unable to breastfeed, we use various methods of breast feeding with native milk (freshly expressed). In case of lack of milk or inability on the part of the mother to visit the baby, our specialists individually select an artificial mixture for him.

If necessary, the child can be examined by any pediatric specialists: ophthalmologists, neurologists, surgeons, allergologists, orthopedists, otorhinolaryngologists, dermatovenerologists, endocrinologists, cardiologists, pediatric urologists.   

The department has rooms for the mother (parents) and child to stay together, where the mother (parents) can stay with the baby at all times. Our staff tries to provide both children and parents with the most comfortable conditions of stay - we attach special importance to this in our daily practice.

If the parents do not have the opportunity to stay in the department all the time, the family can visit the child at their convenience, feed him and communicate with him for as long as the family situation allows.

Parents receive complete information about the condition of the newborn, his treatment tactics, the features of the disease and are directly involved in the care of the child.

A friendly environment in the department and contact between mother and child are essential elements of good care for a newborn and form a positive emotional memory of childbirth in a woman.

The child is discharged home from the neonatal pathology department. Therefore, our main task is to adjust all the vital functions of his body and inform and train parents to take care of the baby. If for some reason the children born at our place and discharged home needed urgent medical care in a hospital and further nursing, we are ready to provide them with such assistance at any time.
