Cardiological pathologies
What does the cardio rehabilitation program include?
Rehabilitation stages:
Physical rehabilitation
ReOxy therapy
We provide comprehensive rehabilitation treatment for patients with diseases of the cardiovascular system.:
- After suffering an acute myocardial infarction
- After coronary artery bypass surgery (CABG)
- After percutaneous coronary intervention (PCI)
- After surgical correction of valvular heart pathology
- After implantation of a cardioverter defibrillator (ICD)
- Patients with high blood pressure (BP)
- Patients with symptoms of chronic heart failure (CHF)
- Patients with hypercholesterolemia
What does the cardio rehabilitation program include?
Several specialists participate in the rehabilitation of patients with cardiac diseases: a cardiologist, a functional diagnostics doctor, a dietitian, a psychologist and a psychotherapist, and a physical therapy instructor.
The rehabilitation program for patients with cardiovascular diseases includes:
- physical training, which is selected individually for each patient, depending on the severity of the disease, complications and concomitant pathology
- psychological rehabilitation
- reduction of risk factors for cardiovascular diseases - correction of diet, help in quitting smoking, control of diabetes and arterial hypertension
- selection of pharmacotherapy for secondary prevention of diseases
- training in self-control and implementation of medical recommendations.
Rehabilitation stages:
-
inpatient (stage I) – begins in the cardiology department, where the patient is admitted in the acute period of the disease. Rehabilitation begins on the first day and continues until discharge from the hospital. At this stage, early activation of the patient is important: moving from a prone position to a sitting position, walking around the ward and along the corridor under the supervision of a medical professional.
- Early inpatient rehabilitation stage (II) – continues after the patient is transferred to a rehabilitation center. A comprehensive rehabilitation program is being developed for each patient: physical training on a bicycle ergometer or treadmill test, physical therapy, correction of drug therapy, interval hypoxic-hyperoxic therapy using the ReOxy device (Germany).
- outpatient rehabilitation stage (III) is performed after the patient is discharged from the rehabilitation center
Physical rehabilitation
Our rehabilitation center is equipped with high-tech equipment that allows patients to be transferred to active rehabilitation as early as possible.
Patients with cardiovascular diseases must undergo stress testing. Its purpose is to assess the patient's functional condition, determine the prognosis for the disease, individually calculate workouts and monitor their effectiveness. Ergospirometry (cardiopulmonary stress test) is considered the "gold standard" in cardiorehabilitation.
During the study, the doctor monitors electrocardiography (ECG), blood pressure (BP), pulmonary gas exchange (oxygen consumption VO2, carbon dioxide release VCO2, their ratio RER, the ratio of minute ventilation and carbon dioxide production VE2/VCO2), as well as the ventilator anaerobic threshold. After receiving all the data, an individual training schedule is calculated, which can be carried out either every day or every other day (3-5 times a week), depending on the patient's condition. Training takes place on a treadmill (treadmill test) and on a bicycle (bicycle ergometry), as well as using manual ergometers.
Treadmill is suitable for patients with varying degrees of fitness (from very weak to healthy), as the doctor chooses the protocol based on the tasks set. The track moves at different speeds from a slow step to a fast run. The bicycle ergometer determines the patient's workload in watts, and also allows testing to calculate interval cycling. This method is indispensable for patients in cardiac rehabilitation, especially with chronic heart failure (CHF). The manual ergometer allows the patient to rotate the disc with his hands, holding onto special handles. This load is used for aerobic training in patients with orthopedic problems. All training sessions are conducted under the control of ECG and BP.
ReOxy therapy
Interval hypoxic-hyperoxic training using the ReOxy device (Germany) consists in a controlled alternation of hypoxia and hyperoxia phases. ReOxy therapy is a fairly new method in cardiological practice, but it has already proven itself to be a safe and effective method that leads to increased exercise tolerance - an increase in exercise time, as well as a significant reduction in episodes of chest pain. There is also a decrease in total cholesterol, plasma triglycerides, a decrease in blood pressure, heart rate, improved sleep, mood and general condition.
