Rehabilitation for oncological diseases helps:

A multidisciplinary team led by a rehabilitation specialist is working with the patient. The team may include physiotherapists, physical therapy instructors, a dietitian, a medical psychologist, a speech therapist, aphasiologist, a neurologist, and other specialists. The rehabilitation program is designed individually for each patient, taking into account his age, previous illness and state of health at the time of the start of rehabilitation treatment. Rehabilitation of cancer patients is carried out both after completion of the main treatment and between courses of radiation and chemotherapy. Rehabilitation during treatment allows patients to cope with the undesirable effects of therapy and regain strength before the next course.

Contrary to popular misconception, oncological diseases are not an absolute contraindication for physiotherapy, massage, and therapeutic gymnastics, but only a rehabilitologist can select rehabilitation methods.

• occupational therapy — classes with an occupational therapist help patients regain domestic independence, regain self-service skills, and drive a car;
• manual lymphatic drainage (lymphatic drainage massage) and massage in an electrostatic field are effective methods of eliminating edema of the extremities, face and neck; in particular, the methods have demonstrated excellent results in the treatment of lymphedema, severe swelling of the arm after mastectomy (breast removal surgery);
• hydrotherapy — classes in the pool and on underwater simulators with professional hydrotherapists are aimed at solving problems with support capacity, eliminating mobility limitations;

• dietetics, nutritionology — a highly qualified dietitian will select therapeutic nutrition during and after chemotherapy, after operations on the organs of the gastrointestinal tract, and a long stay in intensive care;
