Reconstructive surgery in urology

The Department's specialists are engaged in diagnosis and treatment:

• urethral strictures of any localization, extent, and complexity;
• hypospadias in adults and children, as well as complications of previously unsuccessfully operated hypospadias;
• urinary incontinence and genitourinary fistulas in men;
complications after surgical and other medical interventions (radiation, chemotherapy) on the organs of the genitourinary system.

Diagnostics in the Department of Reconstructive Urology

Comprehensive urodynamic examination (CDI) is a modern method that allows assessing the function of the lower urinary tract. Performing a CUDI is indicated for various urinary disorders. During the examination, special sensors are inserted into the bladder, which register the functioning of the bladder and urethra;
• urodynamic system — evaluates the function of the bladder during filling and emptying, measures the pressure in the lumen of the urethra, registers the function of the pelvic floor muscles, studies the relationship between pressure in the bladder and the flow rate of urine;
• Uroflowmetry is used for urethral stricture. Determination of urine flow rate;
• urethrography is an X—ray examination of the urethra;
Urethrocystoscopy is an optical examination of the urethra and bladder. This procedure is usually performed using a flexible optical instrument, a urethrocystoscope, and when performed correctly, it causes virtually no discomfort. Magnetic resonance imaging (MRI), computed tomography (CT), and ultrasound examination of the urethra are also used to diagnose the degree of damage to the urethra and the spongiotic body that provides it with blood supply (degree of spongiofibrosis).

Treatment in the Department of Reconstructive Urology

• Laparoscopic and robot-assisted surgeries for urethral strictures, genitourinary fistulas, and hypospadias. Operations involving the oral mucosa (cheeks, lips, tongue) and artificially grown urethral mucosa;
• endoscopic balloon dilation is the expansion of a narrowed area of the ureter using a catheter;
implantation of a male sling or artificial bladder sphincter for urinary incontinence in men.
