In 1987, Professor Derlon began his collaboration with Russian neurosurgeons. Since then, he has been coming to Moscow regularly for consultations and surgical operations. In March 2006, Professor Derlon organized the first joint meeting of French and Russian neurosurgeons in France.

He graduated from the Medical Faculty of the University of Paris with a degree in Neurosurgery. After graduation, he is currently the head of the Department of Neurosurgery at the Caen University Hospital. He performed more than 1,500 operations to remove an intervertebral hernia.
