He graduated from the Pediatric Faculty of the Second Moscow Medical Institute in 1989, completed his residency in pediatric surgery at the Filatov Children's Clinical Hospital No. 13 in 1989-1991.
From September 1991 to March 2000, he worked as a surgeon at the Kidney Transplantation Department of the Russian Ministry of Health. In 1999, he completed an internship at Hopital Necker des Enfants Malades in Paris. Under the guidance of academician V.I. Shumakov, he defended his dissertations, in 1997, the candidate's thesis "Kidney transplantation in children", in 2003, the doctoral thesis "Postoperative treatment of reperfusion injury of a transplanted kidney: a new look at the pathogenesis of reperfusion injury". The title of professor in the specialty "Transplantology and artificial organs" was awarded on 16.01.2009.
From March 2000 to September 2019, he was in charge of the Kidney Transplantation Department at the B.V. Petrovsky Russian National Research Medical Center, where he began a kidney transplant program for children, which he completed for the first time in Successful transplants of pancreatoduodenal complex and small intestine from a postmortem donor in Russia.
From November 2019 to May 2021, he headed the Organ Transplantation Department of the Federal State Budgetary Educational Institution of Children's Health of the Ministry of Health of the Russian Federation. Since May 2021, he has been leading the program of preparation for transplantation and post-transplant medical support at OLLA-MED LLC. He has been in the personnel reserve of the Federal Center for Disaster Medicine of the Ministry of Health of the Russian Federation since February 2025.

Kaabak make it possible to achieve success in treating categories of patients previously considered inoperable or hopeless, not only through unique medical technologies, but also advanced communication practices when communicating with patients, their relatives, and medical staff, developed and put into practice jointly with the Faculty of Philosophy of Moscow State University. named after M.V.Lomonosov.
From 2009 to 2016, under the leadership of M.M. Kaabak, 7 annual schools on pediatric transplantation were organized and conducted for doctors involved in preparing children for transplantation and their medical support after surgery.:
