Hip arthroscopy
Arthroscopic hip surgery is most often performed by young athletes engaged in gymnastics (sports/ artistic) acrobatics, figure skating. The two most common pathologies in which arthroscopy is indicated for patients are separation of the articular lip of the hip joint and bone impingement, which leads to limited movement in the joint.
There are three types of hip impingement syndrome:
-
Cam is a pathological overgrowth of bone tissue on the neck of the femur;
-
Pincer is a pathological overgrowth of bone tissue in the area of the acetabulum edge.;
-
Mixed - combines both types of impingement.
The operation is performed through 2-3 small punctures in the projection of the hip joint. First, a revision of the hip joint is performed, then, when the articular lip is detached, its refixation is performed, and in the case of bone impingement, osteophytes (pathological growths of bone tissue that lead to limited movement in the joint)
are resected.
After arthroscopy, the patient is usually recommended to walk on crutches with partial support on the operated limb (about three weeks), undergo physiotherapy procedures and gradually develop movements in the joint under control href="/directions/evropeyskaya-klinika-sportivnoy-travmatologii-i-ortopedii-ecsto_reabilitaciya/">врача-реабилитолога.
