Immunization against respiratory syncytial infection
It is possible to protect a child from the disease caused by the MS virus by administering the drug Synagis. The drug contains antibodies that have a specific effect against this pathogen. This is not a vaccination and the administration of the drug does not affect the vaccination schedule in any way.
The scheme of application of the drug consists of 5 injections carried out with an interval of 1 month during the seasonal increase in morbidity, i.e. in the autumn-spring period.
Indications for the use of the drug Synagis:
-
children under the age of 6 months, born at 35 weeks of pregnancy or earlier
-
children under the age of 2 years who required treatment for bronchopulmonary dysplasia in the last 6 months
-
children under the age of 2 years with hemodynamically significant congenital heart defects
In the EMC Children's Clinic, if indicated, Synagis can be administered as part of the program or in separate doses, if necessary.
