Laparoscopic surgery for kidney tumors
The Urological clinic of the European Medical Center successfully specializes in performing surgical procedures by laparoscopy. Currently, this is a global trend, due to the fact that surgical interventions performed using laparoscopic techniques with the highest efficiency are also the least traumatic, since surgical intervention is carried out through minimal punctures of the anterior abdominal wall, which reduces the rehabilitation period to several days, with conventional surgery it lasts up to several weeks. The use of laparoscopic techniques allows us to solve one of the most important tasks – the preservation of the organ and its function (in this case, the kidney), while achieving complete removal of the tumor.
For laparoscopic operations, an endoscope is used, which is a telescopic tube containing a system of lenses that allows the surgeon to see the surgical field in detail on a video monitor, fully control his actions and the condition of the surgical area. The laparoscope is equipped with digital sensors and provides high-definition images. This equipment allows not only to obtain a high-quality image of the surgical process, but also to show and examine areas inaccessible to the human eye, which makes it possible to perform precision, maximally gentle surgical interventions, that is, to excise the tumor while preserving healthy kidney tissue.
The main advantages of laparoscopic operations, that is why the world's leading centers have chosen this technology as their main one:
- Drastic reduction of the patient's hospitalization time.
- Rapid functional rehabilitation of the patient, which takes place within 4-5 days, which is 3-5 times less than during surgery with traditional "open" access.
- There is an extremely low probability of infectious complications (for example, postoperative wound suppuration).
- The pain syndrome after laparoscopic surgery is minimized. In this regard, the need for pain medications is significantly reduced (up to 5-6 times).
- Absence of large disfiguring postoperative skin scars.
The experience and professionalism of the doctor is of great importance in the successful conduct of operations using laparoscopic techniques. Currently, the EMC Urology clinic does not perform operations in the traditional "open" way. 99% of all surgical procedures in the field of urology at the European Medical Center are performed by laparoscopy. EMC specialists have performed more than a thousand successful laparoscopic operations.
Indications and especially contraindications for laparoscopic surgery can only be determined by a specialist who knows this method of surgical treatment.
