Ultrasound scan
Ultrasound examination
Ultrasound diagnostics - recognition of pathological changes in organs and tissues of the body using ultrasound. Due to its ease of implementation, harmlessness, and high information content, it has become widely used in clinical practice.
Advantages of ultrasound:
- Non-invasiveness (the study does not involve either radioactive or X-ray radiation, or the administration of any drugs)
Informative (fast, accurate and detailed information about internal organs) - Painlessness
- Relative speed and accessibility (can be performed immediately upon visiting the clinic)
- Safety (it can be prescribed repeatedly, without fear that it will affect your health).
The clinic has the most modern ultrasound diagnostic devices - expert-class scanners Toshiba, Aplio, Logiq.
One of the main and indisputable advantages of the department is its work 24 hours a day, 365 days a year. The need for an emergency qualified diagnosis may arise at any time – on weekends or at night – the specialists of the European Medical Center work around the clock.
All types of ultrasound examinations are offered in our clinics. Whatever study your doctor prescribes for you, you can be sure that our department will conduct it efficiently and professionally. The department employs highly qualified specialists with extensive experience in various fields of medicine.
Some studies require preliminary preparation, so we have specially developed a memo for patients on preparing for research.
The conclusion can be received immediately after the study or by e-mail within 1-2 days. It is possible to translate into English, record images on a disc, or receive a link to the address where the images are stored electronically, upon prior request through the department's assistants.
Radiology Diagnostic Service units operate in all EMC clinics – on Shchepkina St., Spiridonyevsky and Orlovsky streets, which gives us the opportunity to provide diagnostic assistance to the patient as soon as possible.
In accordance with European standards, as well as for the convenience of patients, some studies, such as ultrasound of the pelvic organs and breast in women, as well as the bladder and prostate in men, are conducted directly in the offices of gynecologists and urologists.
Types of ultrasound
- Ultrasound at home
- Echocardiography (ultrasound of the heart)
- Doppler ultrasound examination of blood vessels
- Ultrasound of the thyroid gland
- Ultrasound of the pancreas
- Pelvic floor ultrasound
- Ultrasound during pregnancy
Preparation for ultrasound
No special preparation is required for the procedure. Depending on the area of the body being examined, some manipulations may be required.Ultrasound examination is usually short and takes from 10 minutes to half an hour.
Ultrasound of the abdominal cavity
The study is performed on an empty stomach. It is recommended to exclude food intake for 6-8 hours and liquids 2 hours before the procedure. A light dinner is allowed the day before, with the exception of gas-forming products (bread, legumes, vegetables, fruits, milk).
Ultrasound of the bladder
The examination takes place with a full bladder. To do this, drink 4-6 glasses of non-carbonated water about 1.5 hours before the procedure.
Breast ultrasound
The study is conducted from the 5th to the 14th day of the menstrual cycle. If there are complaints, the study should be performed any day.
Ultrasound of the pelvic organs
If an external sensor is used with a full bladder, then you should drink about 1 liter of water before the test and do not empty the bladder for an hour. If performed with an internal (vaginal) sensor, it is necessary to empty the bladder before the procedure.
