COVID-19 Rehabilitation Program
Who needs rehabilitation after COVID-19
Coronavirus rehabilitation is necessary for all patients – it is part of the treatment process. Especially for those who have been ill in moderate to severe form, and for patients after mechanical ventilation.
Possible consequences of COVID-19:
- pulmonary fibrosis, shortness of breath;
- formation of blood clots (increased blood clotting);
- disruption of the gastrointestinal tract and weight loss;
- arrhythmia;
- prolonged chills;
- fatigue and muscle weakness;
- cognitive impairments: decreased memory, attention, difficulty learning and performing habitual tasks; anxiety, depression, sleep disorders.
Rehabilitation is primarily aimed at combating the effects of the virus itself and excessive immune response to infection, as well as at eliminating the damage caused by drug therapy (corticosteroids, immunosuppression drugs, cytostatics, antibiotics) .
When to start rehabilitation
Immediately after stabilization of the condition. The sooner rehabilitation begins, the faster recovery will be and the lower the risk of developing chronic lung disease in the future.
Our advantages
- International doctors provide an integrated approach to recovery, and cardiologists, neurologists, endocrinologists, psychiatrists, dermatologists, and cosmetologists are involved in the rehabilitation team, if necessary
- The unique infrastructure allows the use of various rehabilitation methods
- Recovery can take place on an outpatient basis or in a hospital – we recover patients with major lung damage after mechanical ventilation
Terms of rehabilitation
People who have been ill in moderate to severe form require comprehensive rehabilitation in a hospital.The recovery time is individual, but the average is from two weeks to a month. Further rehabilitation can be carried out at home under the supervision of specialists.
Results
Respiratory function will be restored: the vital capacity of the lungs will normalize, shortness of breath will disappear.
Exercise tolerance will increase: muscle weakness will decrease, and endurance will increase.
