One of the advantages of the method is the ability to visualize the pulmonary fields, ribs, shadows of the heart and large vessels, which can be used to identify their possible pathologies.
Indications for the study
- annual preventive lung examination;
- suspected presence of:
- inflammatory lung diseases (pneumonia),
- lung cancer (lung cancer),
- fungal lung diseases (aspergillosis),
- tuberculosis,
- accumulation of fluid in the chest cavities,
- lung cancer (lung cancer),
- fungal lung diseases (aspergillosis),
- tuberculosis,
- accumulation of fluid in the chest cavities,
- detection of foreign bodies;
- detection of fractures of the bones of the chest wall (ribs, sternum, vertebrae) during injuries.
Round-the-clock lung X-ray in Moscow
At the European Medical Center, you can have a lung X-ray around the clock, including on weekends and holidays. In EMC clinics, lung X-rays are performed for children and adults.
By contacting the EMC, you can be sure not only of the quality and safety of the equipment, but also of the qualifications of the doctors. Most EMC radiologists regularly undergo internships abroad and continuously improve their skills. We use modern X-ray equipment, which allows us to obtain more accurate results with the least radiation exposure.
It is advisable to compare the results of lung radiography with the results of previous studies. Therefore, if you have previously performed an X–ray of the lungs, take the results with you on any medium (flash drive, disk, link to a file sharing site, pictures on film) - this will enable our specialists to assess your condition in dynamics. By undergoing regular lung screening examinations at the EMC, you can be sure that your research data will be securely stored in the archive of the PACS medical information system. This system allows you to store research data for at least 10 years, and doctors can access it at any time, including remotely.
Contraindications
It is not recommended to carry out lung X-rays for the purpose of prevention during pregnancy. In any emergency situations, the need for research will be determined by the doctor.
Research progress
Radiography of the lungs and chest is performed without prior preparation.
Lung X-ray results
The X-ray technician will tell you about the procedure for conducting the study and answer your questions. You will need to strip down to the waist, remove metal objects that fall into the scanning area, and if you have long hair, put them up. Next, the X-ray technician will help you put on a protective apron. The study is performed standing up. While taking the picture, take a deep breath and hold your breath for a few seconds. The quality of the image, and hence the reliability of the diagnosis, directly depends on your immobility during the examination.
After the study, the images are transferred to the professional workstations of our radiologists. You can get the results of the study in any form convenient for you:
- doctor's report: original on paper or copy in electronic form,
- research data (images): on disk, via an electronic viewing link, or, if necessary, on film.
The time when the results of the study are ready depends on the complexity of the clinical situation. You will receive preliminary information about the results from your doctor immediately after the examination.
How often can and should I have a lung X-ray?
It is known that any disease is easier to prevent than to treat. An X–ray of the lungs is the easiest way to verify the health of the bronchopulmonary system. It is advisable to undergo an examination at least once every two years and no more than twice a year.
If you smoke or work in a hazardous industry, the maximum period between studies is reduced to once a year or six months. And if you need to monitor the course of the disease, radiography of the lungs may be required more often – here the decision to conduct the study is made by your attending physician.
What is the difference between X-ray and fluorography?
Fluorography is an outdated examination method in which an image from an X-ray machine is photographed on a small-format film. This is a cheaper and less accurate method – the clarity of the image is several times less than the X-ray and does not allow to identify many lung pathologies.
Therefore, most experts today recommend performing radiography – the price of the study is fully justified by its effectiveness. You can get an X-ray of the lungs in Moscow for a fee at the European Medical Center. The price includes:
- research using modern equipment;
- doctor's report on any medium.
