Stereotactic Radiotherapy (SBRT)
On the website The Anderson Cancer Center at the University of Texas has published an article on such a radiotherapy technique as SBRT, or stereotactic radiotherapy.
Comments Nidal Salim, Head of EMC Radiation Therapy Center:
"The SBRTtechnology is successfully used in the EMC Radiation Therapy Center. To carry out such treatment, we use the latest generation of radiotherapy systems TrueBeam and Trilogy manufactured by Varian Medical Systems (USA).
We use theSBRT techniquemainly for the treatment of primary lung cancer (stage 1), as well as single lung metastases. One of the advantages of this type of treatment for lung cancer is the possibility of its implementation in cases of inoperable tumors, or the impossibility of surgical treatment of the patient due to concomitant pathology. This type of treatment is equivalent to surgical intervention. In addition, SBRTis often used in the treatment of liver, adrenal and spinal metastases.
The treatment process according to the SBRTmethod in our Center fully corresponds to the one described in the article of the clinicMD Anderson, since our treatment is carried out according to the same principles international protocols.
In addition, I absolutely support my colleagues from the MD Anderson clinic in the fact that each patient is different, so whether this treatment is suitable for the patient or not is determined only after consultation with an oncologist-radiotherapist."
Dr. Salim has extensive experience in SBRT treatment, and a team of specialists from the Radiation Therapy Center, who have completed training and internships in leading clinics in Israel, Europe and the USA, successfully treats patients under his guidance.
