Vaccination against tuberculosis
The first one contains twice as many mycobacteria and is used for primary immunization of children in territories with a tuberculosis incidence rate above 80 per 100,000 population. In all other cases, the BCG-M vaccine is used.
The product does not contain preservatives and antibiotics.
The BCG vaccine has been proven to protect against the most severe forms of the disease:
-
tuberculous meningitis - inflammation of the meninges
-
widespread pulmonary tuberculosis.
It should be noted that the BCG vaccine does not prevent primary infection.
BCG-M vaccine is used to vaccinate:
- In maternity hospitals for all healthy newborns on day 3-7 of life on the eve or on the day of discharge from the hospital
- In maternity hospitals for newborns with a body weight of 2000 grams or more, when restoring their original body weight on the eve or on the day of discharge from the hospital
- In the nursing departments of premature newborns (2nd stage of nursing)children with a body weight of 2300g or more before discharge from the hospital
- In children's clinics for children who have not received TB vaccination in the hospital due to medical contraindications
Children who have not been vaccinated in the first days of life are vaccinated in the first two months in a children's polyclinic or other medical and preventive institution without prior tuberculin diagnosis.
Children aged 2 months and older should have a Mantoux test before vaccination. If you receive a negative reaction to this test, you can be vaccinated. The interval between the Mantoux test and vaccination should not be less than 3 days and not more than 2 weeks.
Before vaccination against tuberculosis (BCG, BCG-M), a minimum examination is required to exclude acute infectious and island-inflammatory processes. A general blood test, a general urine test.
The vaccine is administered intradermally. A live weakened vaccine strain, multiplying within the skin, leads to the development of immunity to tuberculosis. It has been established that the vaccine additionally protects against leprosy, and also prevents diseases caused by atypical pathogens of tuberculosis.
