EMC dermatologists have diagnosed the rarest disease: there are about 80 cases in the world.

A 37-year-old woman contacted the EMC complaining of itchy rashes, weakness, mild nausea and poor appetite. The rash first appeared three years before the consultation. The patient decided that it was an allergic reaction to corticosteroids, which she was taking at the time, and did not consult a doctor. However, 2 months after stopping taking corticosteroids, the rashes reappeared and continued to appear periodically on the skin of the legs and abdomen. The last exacerbation occurred a week before the consultation and was accompanied by chills.

The patient turned to an allergist and rheumatologist at one of the central scientific institutions of Russia. Laboratory examination revealed no pathology. The diagnosis was unclear, so the patient contacted the EMC for a second opinion.

According to the results of the examination, the doctor established a preliminary diagnosis: "Wells' eosinophilic cellulite." To clarify it, a histological examination was performed, which confirmed this rare disease. There are only about 80 cases of Wells' disease in the world today.

We prescribed treatment for the patient and gave recommendations for the prevention of relapses. To date, there are no symptoms.
