A 56—year-old woman suffered from urolithiasis for 15 years - during this time, the stone grew to 5 cm and began to occupy the entire kidney cavity. The patient underwent surgery and was discharged the next day. A 5 cm kidney stone was removed through a 1 cm long puncture by ultrasonic crushing.
Prescribed medications aimed at dissolving the stone did not help. The urologist at the place of residence offered the patient either open coral stone surgery or minimally invasive endoscopic treatment at the EMC Urological Clinic. The patient chose the second option.
Denis Mazurenko and Natalia Demchenko, EMC urologists, brought a miniature endoscope to the stone through one 1 cm puncture in the left lumbar region, performed ultrasound crushing of the stone (lithotripsy). All its fragments were successfully removed, and the patient was discharged the next day.
On the second day, the drainage tube was removed. Ultrasound on the 3rd day showed that the kidney is in perfect condition: there is no expansion of cavities, no stones. The puncture zone is also completely closed. Such a rapid recovery is due to the fact that the puncture did not disrupt the blood supply to the kidney.
