What is the ALEX2 allergy chip

The ALlergy EXplorer (ALEX) allergen panel was developed by the Austrian company Macro-Array Diagnostics. The allergochip became the first clinically applicable test for allergy diagnosis, which allowed simultaneous determination of general and specific IgE immunoglobulins in relation to a large number of allergenic components of plant and animal origin. The second-generation test system has significantly expanded diagnostic capabilities: it can detect antibodies to 117 allergens and 178 of their molecular components, including more than 60 unique ones.

Features of the ALEX2 test:

• Multiplex. It allows simultaneous measurement of the presence of numerous complex molecules in a single biological sample. This means that to test for more than 300 allergens, it is enough to take a small amount of blood once. /p>

• Enzyme immunoassay. This immunological analysis evaluates the formation of artificial immunocomplexes as a result of reactions in a laboratory sample. It is safe and convenient for the patient. Determines the overall IgE level. An indicator that displays the amount of all specific immunoglobulins in the blood. Thus, it is possible to determine whether the patient has an allergy and how pronounced it is.

• Defines specific IgE. It makes it possible to detect an allergic reaction to a specific substance. The allergochip is highly accurate and allows you to identify both a single allergen source and a spectrum of cross-reactivity if the immune system reacts to substances that are similar in spatial and chemical structure.

• It contains an inhibitor of cross-reactive carbohydrate determinants (CCD). Blocking specific CCD antibodies eliminates false-positive reactions and makes the analysis as accurate as possible.

• A large number of allergens. The allergochip surpasses all existing test systems in terms of the accuracy of allergen detection, including evaluating the patient's response to saliva, metabolites and epidermis of pets, pollen from various plants, and a wide range of tick-borne allergens. The test includes unique allergens and molecules, sensitization to which can provoke the development of severe or urgent conditions up to anaphylaxis.

Preparing for the test

Blood collection for analysis does not require special training, it can be carried out after meals. The study is possible at any time of the year, including in patients with clinical manifestations during allergy exacerbation.
