Useful recommendations on how to properly take care of yourself while on a diet, in an article for the magazine "Lose Weight".
Dieting is not an easy task, it requires endurance, patience and self–control. These qualities are necessary for losing weight not only because of the rejection of their favorite foods, but also because they need to take very painstaking care of their skin. In order to look good, one toned figure is not enough. It's hard to call slender people with pale, stretched and fading skin beautiful. Meanwhile, this is exactly what can happen to her when we are on diets. Do not forget that any dietary restriction is a deficiency of nutrients, vitamins, minerals and proteins that directly affect the condition of the skin.
"fast" diets hurt the most when a large amount of weight goes away in a fairly short period of time. During such a diet, the skin may “sag". It's all about the mechanism of formation of extra pounds: they accumulated over a week and slowly stretched the skin. When you "throw off" the excess in one fell swoop, the skin simply does not have time to "tighten". In youth, it is still possible to get rid of skin areas that have lost their turgor without the help of a plastic surgeon, but after 40-50 years it becomes more difficult, so at this age it is recommended to avoid express diets. Scientists have calculated that in order for the skin to tighten well after melting fat, it is advisable to lose weight very smoothly – no more than 2-3 kilograms per month. At the same time, do not forget about fitness: during weight loss, you should visit different types of aerobics and a swimming pool (loads in the water tighten not only muscles, but also the skin).
However, even on "slow" diets without proper care, skin quality can deteriorate significantly. The closer the age is to 40, the more often this happens. Let's look at each problem individually in order to understand how to avoid its occurrence.:
- Cellulite. The process of its appearance has not yet been fully investigated, but it is known that every second woman on Earth faces it. When you lose weight, the likelihood of an "orange peel" increases. Therefore, when following a diet, it is better to be safe and use pharmacy creams daily to combat the early stages of cellulite. It is easy to find them by their action and composition (it must be indicated on the package): in addition to the direct anti-cellulite effect, such cosmetics should stimulate lymphatic drainage and strengthen blood vessels, they should include horse chestnut, algae, artichoke, vitamins PP and E, as well as burdock extract. Remember that you need to take a shower before applying the product. Once or twice a week, you can use an anti-cellulite mask for wraps: apply the mass to areas where a "crust" may appear, wrap them with plastic wrap and walk for about 40 minutes.
- Dull and tired looking skin. To maintain a healthy complexion and body, it is necessary to consume enough water during the diet. Dehydrated skin looks dull, tired, and ages faster. Two liters of liquid per day will help maintain water balance. If you forget to drink during the day, do not drink these liters in one gulp at night, because this can only harm the skin: you will not get enough sleep, and in the morning there will be swelling. In addition, do not forget to use body moisturizers: in the morning after a shower, during the day – especially after visiting the pool. They will not only preserve the skin color, but also make it more elastic and elastic.
- Sagging skin. As mentioned above, this problem occurs most often when a woman is on an express diet and neglects physical activity. When you're young, you can "tighten" your skin at home.: Massage the areas that have lost their turgor regularly, and then apply nourishing and moisturizing creams with a lifting effect to the skin. Use exfoliating products regularly – they stimulate cell regeneration. Don't forget about fitness - do abdominal exercises and attend water aerobics classes. A weekly sea salt bath is also recommended. You will have to be patient, because you will have to wait at least six months for the first results. After 30 years of age, if signs of “sagging” skin appear, you should consult a dermatologist. The doctor will assess the condition of your skin and tell you what is best to do in this situation. Dermatocosmetic procedures can be a good alternative to plastic surgery: peels, mesotherapy and a course of skin biorevitalization using hyaluronic acid.
- Premature aging of the skin of the body. It has been proven that the activity of fibroblasts, the synthesis of collagen, elastin and hyaluronic acid - the main structural components of the skin - significantly decreases after 30 years, which leads to the fact that the turgor of the skin weakens, the oval of the face changes. The skin becomes dry and thin, and deep wrinkles form. An improperly chosen diet, poor in vitamins and antioxidants, can exacerbate this process. Therefore, after the age of 30, it is recommended to undergo cosmetic procedures aimed at stimulating skin fibroblasts, and to use cosmetics containing hyaluronic acid in home care.
When following a particular diet, don't be afraid to use several different body care products. For example, in the morning after a shower, you can apply a moisturizer to your skin, in the afternoon after a pool – an anti–aging cream with hyaluronic acid, and at night - an anti-cellulite cream.
Before you start losing weight, consult with a dermatologist in advance, who will determine your skin type, suggest the right care and recommend dermatocosmetic procedures that will be so necessary for your skin during the weight loss period.
