The ureter is the organ that is responsible for the outflow of urine from the kidney. Narrowing of the ureter (stricture) leads to impaired kidney function.
Symptoms
Any violation of the outflow of urine from the kidney can be a symptom of stricture. Stricture of the upper third of the ureter or stricture of the pelvic-ureteral segment is most common. It is extremely important to timely identify and treat the disease in the early stages, when it has not yet spread along the entire length of the ureter. Otherwise, complex reconstructive surgery is required.
Diagnostics
Computed tomography with contrast is used to detect the disease, and in some cases endoscopic examinations are used.
Methods of treatment of ureteral stricture at the European Medical Center (EMC):
- Laparoscopic surgery. The method consists in excision of the affected area and further connection of healthy tissues.
- Endoscopic balloon dilation. The narrowed area is expanded using a special catheter. Constant X-ray imaging and the use of a flexible fibroscope make it possible to completely eliminate the stricture of the ureter and normalize the excretion of urine from the kidney into the ureter.
- Endoscopic correction. A laser treatment method in which a special tube with a thickening is placed in the stricture, which expands the narrowed area and restores the outflow of urine.
- Reconstructive surgery. It is performed in the case when a total lesion of the ureter is detected. During the operation, the ureter is replaced by part of the intestine.
Advantages of the European Medical Center:
- For the treatment of ureteral stricture, EMC uses only the most modern and minimally traumatic techniques that have proven their effectiveness.
- Surgical treatment is performed using endoscopic and laparoscopic equipment, including the Da Vinci Si HD robot.
- A short recovery period after the intervention. In most cases, the patient returns home two days after the operation.
- Highly qualified urologist surgeons with experience in Europe, the USA, and Israel.
- All types of diagnostics are available around the clock.
- A comfortable hospital with single and double rooms, meals according to an individual menu.
- If necessary, doctors of various specializations participate in the treatment of the patient.
- All types of emergency, emergency and ambulance services.
Ureteral stricture treatment in EMC is performed by a urologist, oncologist surgeon, President of the Association of Young Urologists of Russia (AMUR) Iskander Abdullin is an instructor in performing demonstration laparoscopic and robot-assisted operations for urologists in Europe and Russia.
