A review training course "Modern Orthopedics for radiologists" was held in Moscow, designed to eliminate misunderstandings that sometimes arise between diagnosticians and clinicians. The event was organized with the support of the Association of Sports Traumatologists, Arthroscopic and Orthopedic Surgeons and Rehabilitologists, the International Institute of Postgraduate Medical Education, the European Medical Center Group of Companies and the European Clinic of Sports Traumatology and Orthopedics.
Radiologists from all over the country attended the training course.
"Currently, there is no other such opportunity to consult with leading clinicians to find out from them how to conduct a study and what to look for," said one of the scientific chairs of the course, Head of the EMC Radiation Diagnostics Service, MD, Professor Sergey Morozov.
As part of the educational event, orthopedic surgeons and traumatologists told their radiologists about the features of arthroscopic anatomy of the shoulder, elbow, wrist, knee, hip and ankle joints, analyzed the specifics of diagnostic examination of joints in normal and pathological conditions. At the forum, clinical examples of joint diseases and injuries were examined in detail and the features of radiation, ultrasound diagnostics, magnetic resonance imaging and computed tomography were jointly studied.
The audience was particularly interested in the presented methods of arthroscopic surgery, in particular, plastic surgery of the anterior cruciate ligament, Bankart surgery and subacromial decompression. The report on typical radiological errors during joint examination proved to be an excellent reason to critically evaluate our own practical activities and be prepared for non-standard clinical situations.
"Examinations of patients after surgery, including in case of repeated injuries, are particularly difficult in practice, therefore, the principles of diagnosis of such conditions based on the use of We paid a lot of attention to MR and CT arthrography techniques," Morozov said.
"This course is very useful for radiologists who work closely with orthopedic traumatologists," said Andrey Uchevatkin, a radiologist and CT specialist. - There is often a misunderstanding between these two specialties. Today's meeting is a great start for "building bridges" between the clinic and diagnostics. We have now taken a review course; I hope that in the future we will have the opportunity to hear even more specialized and detailed reports."
