Diagnosis of hematological diseases
In the EMC Hematology department, a full examination is performed if a hematological disease is suspected.:
- diagnosis of various types of cytopenia (anemia, thrombocytopenia, leukopenia),
- diagnosis of myeloproliferative and lymphoproliferative diseases,
- screening for disorders of the blood coagulation system.
After consultation with a hematologist, the necessary diagnostic procedures (puncture and trepanobiopsy of the bone marrow) are performed in the clinic, if necessary under medical sedation. All types of incision, excision, and endoscopic biopsies are performed under ultrasound and CT guidance.
Our clinic conducts a full range of laboratory tests for the diagnosis of hematological diseases: cytological, immunological, cytogenetic, molecular, histological, immunohistochemical. It is possible to obtain a second opinion from hematologists and other specialists in the USA and Germany using telemedicine services. All types of instrumental examinations are also performed: ultrasound, MRI, CT, PET-CT, endoscopic examination.
Treatment of hematological diseases
After the examination, an interdisciplinary consultation (tumor board) is conducted to draw up a treatment program and follow-up monitoring of the patient's condition.
At EMC, hematological diseases are treated according to modern international recommendations using original cytostatic drugs, immunotherapy with monoclonal antibodies and targeted drugs.
Consultation with a hematologist and treatment is carried out for the following diseases:
- Various types of anemia, including deficiency anemia: iron deficiency, B12 deficiency, folate deficiency, anemia of chronic diseases; acquired hemolytic anemia, aplastic anemia (mild forms)
- Thrombocytopenia, including immune thrombocytopenia
- Chronic myelolecosis
- Various types of myeloproliferative/myelodysplastic conditions: true polycythemia (erythremia), primary and secondary myelofibrosis, essential thrombocythemia, and other types of myeloproliferative neoplasms, mastocytosis, all types of myelodysplastic syndromes
- Chronic lymphocytic leukemia/small lymphocyte lymphoma
- Hairy cell leukemia
- Multiple myeloma and other plasma cell neoplasms
- Waldenstem macroglobulinemia
- All types of Hodgkin's lymphoma, including the second and subsequent lines of therapy, with the exception of high-dose chemotherapy
- Various types of non-Hodgkin's lymphomas (with the exception of lymphoblastic lymphoma): hairy cell leukemia, diffuse B-large cell lymphoma (with the exception of primary lymphoma involving the central nervous system), follicular lymphoma, lymphoma from cells of the mantle zone, lymphoma from cells of the marginal zone
- Various types of T-cell neoplasms: peripheral T-cell lymphoma, T-cell leukemia from large granular leukocytes, anaplastic large cell lymphoma, including those associated with breast implants, etc.
- Primary cutaneous lymphomas (including fungal mycosis/Cesari syndrome)
For patients who need support from blood components, transfusions of erythrocyte and platelet mass are performed with the possibility of individual selection.
