In some cases, when the oncological process has spread to neighboring organs and has metastasized, when laparoscopic surgery cannot ensure the complete removal of all tumor foci, abdominal surgery is indicated, the purpose of which is either to remove the entire tumor as completely as possible, or to remove lymph nodes that may contain tumor cells. For
ovarian cancer, for example, often requires the removal of multiple metastases on the intestine, diaphragm, sometimes removing part of the intestine or spleen.
Such operations are lengthy and technically difficult, but only the most complete removal of all tumor nodes significantly increases the chances of cure and improves survival.
Understanding these features of the disease, we always make maximum surgical efforts to remove the tumor as completely as possible, if there are no contraindications for this, providing our patients with the maximum chance of cure and high survival.
