In what cases is it necessary to consult a rheumatologist?
Rheumatic disease can be suspected in cases of persistent pain in joints, muscles, bones, swelling of joints or periarticular soft tissues. Systemic inflammatory diseases (systemic connective tissue diseases, systemic vasculitis) can manifest as prolonged fever, general weakness, skin lesions, and "inflammatory" changes in laboratory parameters.
Often, some symptoms of rheumatic diseases are manifested in other dangerous diseases unrelated to rheumatology. These can be various tumors and infections.
