Psoriatic arthritis
- skin and nail damage dactylitis (arthritis of the finger joints) pain in large joints (more often in the joints of the lower extremities)
- back pain (rare)
The diagnosis of psoriatic arthritis is based on criteria adopted by the Association of Rheumatology. Criteria include clinical signs of joint damage (arthritis), specific skin and nail damage (psoriasis), and the presence of a burdened family history (psoriasis in first-line relatives). There are no specific laboratory markers. The range of laboratory examinations includes general clinical blood and urine tests, biochemical and immunological blood tests. Depending on the prevalence of joint damage, instrumental diagnostic methods are selected. The most informative is an MRI scan of the joints. At the European Medical Center, you can complete the entire amount of research in 1-2 visits. After the examination at the pediatric rheumatologist's office, the treatment plan and the timing of the patient's dynamic follow-up are discussed. If necessary, you can undergo an inpatient examination and begin treatment.
Treatment of psoriatic arthritis is aimed at reducing inflammation in the joints and suppressing inflammatory changes in the skin. Since the disease has an immune nature, the most effective drugs for treatment are genetically engineered biological drugs. These are medications developed specifically for the treatment of autoimmune diseases, the action of which is specifically aimed at blocking specific inflammation in the joints and skin. Rheumatologists at the European Medical Center apply the experience of colleagues from the European and American Associations of Pediatric Rheumatology in their practice.
