The main clinical application of the definition of cancer markers is monitoring the effectiveness of treatment of the oncological process, preclinical detection of relapses. Diagnosis of cancer markers can be an effective and economically feasible complement to other diagnostic procedures. It is most effective to use combinations of several cancer markers in the diagnosis of tumor and metastatic process, differential diagnosis of benign and malignant
diseases.
In the EMC laboratory, cancer markers are determined using Advia CentaurXP and Immulite 2000i automated immunochemiluminescent systems (Siemens Healthcare Diagnostics Inc., USA), AccessII automatic immunochemical analyzer (Beckman Coulter, USA), and ELISYSDuo automatic enzyme immunoassay analyzer (HUMAN GmbH, Germany).
