Laser rejuvenation of intimate areas (photothermolysis in gynecology)
Author: Head of the Gynecology and Oncogynecology Clinic, Ph.D.Vladimir Nosov
General information about the procedure
At different age periods, a woman may experience discomfort, dryness, urinary incontinence during physical exertion, a feeling of overgrown pelvic muscles, etc. in intimate areas.
Such problems are most often observed:

- after childbirth, especially during breastfeeding, when the level of female sex hormones, estrogens, decreases in the body;
- in perimenopause, when the function of the ovaries gradually fades and the vaginal tissues begin to respond to a lack of estrogens;
- after menopause, when the production of female sex hormones ends and the tissues of the intimate area lose elasticity and tone.
Women often think that such conditions are the norm and do not consult a gynecologist. However, such problems are never the norm and often significantly disrupt the quality of daily life, reduce confidence in one's own attractiveness, and sometimes lead to discord in family life. Some women are not ready to start a conversation about such delicate issues with a gynecologist themselves.
Modern medicine allows you to solve intimate problems simply and safely. We use the most effective non-surgical technique to date, laser therapy (photothermolysis) using the Pixel CO2 laser (Alma Laser).
How does photothermolysis work in gynecology?
Laser beams, painlessly affecting the vaginal tissues, trigger the natural process of collagen and elastin production and improve blood flow. This leads to an increase in the firmness and elasticity of the vagina and, as a result, its narrowing.
Indications for intimate plastic surgery
The technology allows you to get rid of:
- weakening of the vaginal walls;
- dryness of the mucous membrane (atrophy);
- urinary incontinence and prolapse (pelvic organ prolapse) of mild degree aesthetic problems of the external genitalia, including from excessive pigmentation of the skin of the genitals.
In addition, it has been proven that after a course of photothermolysis, sensitivity increases during intimacy.
How is the procedure performed?
This is a non-invasive procedure (without punctures and incisions). It lasts 15-20 minutes. It does not cause discomfort, therefore it does not require anesthesia, with rare exceptions it is possible to use a local anesthetic.
You can return to sexual activity the very next day after photothermolysis.
The effect of laser rejuvenation
3-4 procedures are required to achieve maximum effect. The interval between procedures is 1 month.
Contraindications
There are no contraindications. Photothermolysis can be safely performed for women during lactation as early as 4-5 weeks after delivery (including after cesarean section), as well as for patients with a history of cancer (including after radiation therapy to the pelvic region). Concomitant chronic therapeutic diseases are also not contraindications for photothermolysis.
Always be welcome and confident! Ask your gynecologist about this procedure.
In addition to photothermolysis, we offer patients the full range of intimate surgical gynecology services to solve any delicate problems.
