Preservation of reproductive function
Difficulties with the onset of pregnancy are a fairly common topic of visits to a gynecologist—reproductologist, fortunately, medicine has a wide range of effective methods and technologies to solve the problem of infertility. Nevertheless, sometimes the patient's state of health calls into question the possibility of conceiving and having a child. In particular, this applies to people with cancer.
Through the joint efforts of specialists Clinics of reproductive and prenatal medicine, The Gynecology and Oncogynecology Clinics and of the Institute of Oncology have developed a program to preserve reproductive function in patients of reproductive age with oncological diseases.
Thanks to this program, patients have the opportunity to save biological material (sperm and eggs) for later use after treatment. This is necessary before undergoing chemotherapy and/or radiation therapy, which have a negative impact on reproductive health.
We offer:
- cryopreservation of sperm;
- cryopreservation of oocytes/embryos;
- cryopreservation of ovarian tissue.
Germ cells are cryopreserved and can be stored indefinitely in the EMC cryobank. After achieving remission, patients can have genetically related babies through IVF or surrogacy programs.
