In the March issue of the Sharema magazine, an article "How to make up for vitamin deficiency in spring?" was published, in which the nutritionist-endocrinologist of the European Medical Center, a doctor of the highest category Irina Russ.
In the spring, expectant mothers especially lack vitamins C and D, as well as vitamins of group B.
Now, when most fruits and vegetables lose their vitamins and trace elements after long storage, the future mother's diet should consist of dairy products (a source of vitamins A, D and calcium), lean meat (amino acids, B vitamins, iron), nuts (vitamin E, polyunsaturated fatty acids), cereals and whole grain bread (B vitamins).
It will be useful to add seaweed and algae, which are especially rich in iodine, to your diet. As for frozen vegetables, they retain a large amount of vitamins and trace elements, but, unfortunately, up to 80% of the useful substances disappear during subsequent heat treatment.
It should also be noted that one of the main causes of vitamin deficiency is problems with the gastrointestinal tract and stress, which do not allow the vitamins and trace elements that enter the body with food to be fully absorbed.
