Tells Irina Russ,
nutritionist, endocrinologist
As a rule, everyone has their own ways of improving the body: someone is regularly examined and takes medications, in accordance with the recommendations of doctors, and someone prefers non-traditional methods of restoring the body, such as, for example, cleansing. Currently, the body cleansing procedure is becoming increasingly popular in many countries around the world. In Russia, the number of centers specializing in cleansing the body is steadily growing, but despite this, most people still prefer to carry out cleansing on their own, based on recommendations from the Internet, books, medical broadcasts on radio or television. Why are more and more people resorting to body cleansing procedures?
A large number of harmful factors: the habit of eating anything, smoking, alcohol abuse, an intense lifestyle with great emotional stress (often with a depressive charge and with minimal physical exertion), living in cities with unfavorable ecology - lead to an imbalance of physiological functions and, as a result, the occurrence of various diseases. Each person's body has a system of self-renewal of reserve forces, but the "harmful" metabolic products formed as a result of vital activity are not completely eliminated from the body, since a number of organs responsible for cleansing (liver, kidneys, intestines, mucous membranes, skin) cannot always cope with the "garbage" that accumulates in the body. as a result of the lifestyle we lead.
The body cleansing procedure itself has a long history. Ancient healers used fasting and water cleansing procedures (baths) for this purpose, and believers still fast in many religions for spiritual and physical cleansing. In recent decades, there have been more and more different methods in this field, including author's methods. Many of them combine approaches such as dietary restrictions (up to starvation), intestinal cleansing (enemas), cleansing of the liver, kidneys and other organs. Undoubtedly, there is a rational grain in these methods, but it is unlikely that this is suitable for everyone. Before cleansing, regardless of which method is used, it is necessary to consult a doctor and conduct a diagnostic examination that will identify the presence of various diseases that the patient may not be aware of and which may be a contraindication to the cleansing procedure using one method or another. Thoughtless application of certain methods or cleansing courses can do more harm than good.
How can I do the cleansing on my own without risking my health? First, stop smoking, limit, or better yet completely abandon, alcohol consumption, drink more clean water instead of sugary drinks, juices or coffee, impose restrictions on the use of products containing chemicals, dyes, preservatives, synthetic substitutes, etc., it is better to eat often and in small portions. Secondly, to "purify" consciousness: analyze situations that lead to tension on a daily basis, tune in positively, get enough sleep, increase physical activity as a way to switch emotions and improve the functioning of organs and systems (for example, walk more), monitor daily and prevent intestinal disorders.
These recommendations may seem tedious to many, but only constant self-improvement is the key to health and longevity. Even if, having achieved excellent results after a course of cleansing in the clinic, you will later return to your usual harmful lifestyle, health problems will not take long to wait. And the subsequent "cleansing" will not be so effective.
In conclusion, it is worth noting that cleansing the body is necessary, but it should be carried out only after examination and consultation with a qualified specialist who will select the technique that suits you.
