Osteoporosis can also be manifested by stooping, decreased growth, and an aggravation of other diseases of the spine, such as osteochondrosis, etc.
According to the World Health Organization (WHO), osteoporosis ranks fourth among non-communicable diseases in terms of frequency after diseases of the cardiovascular system, oncology and diabetes mellitus.
Risk factors include female sex, menopause, previous fractures, chronic diseases of the gastrointestinal tract, hypogonadism in men, chronic vitamin D deficiency, physical inactivity, a tendency to falls, smoking, alcohol abuse, endocrine and rheumatological diseases and much more.
