When should I see a doctor?

A pediatric otorhinolaryngologist (ENT) treats diseases of the ear, throat and nose, which are perhaps the most common in children, and the child's future health largely depends on the quality of their treatment.

  • Round-the-clock emergency care, including surgery
  • Diagnostics: audiography, otoacoustic emission, tympanometry, selection of hearing aids, video endoscopy of the nose and larynx, stroboscopy of the larynx, examination of the ear with a microscope, CT, MRI, as well as laboratory diagnostics of microflora, allergic and immune status and other testsli>
  • Doctors with extensive experience working with children, who know how to find the right approach to each child
  • Interaction with pediatricians, neurologists, sign language specialists (audiologists) and speech therapists to develop an optimal individual treatment plan in difficult cases
  • The clear and prompt cooperation of specialists who have been educated at the best Russian universities and trained in clinics in the USA and Western Europe allows them to provide assistance to young patients in the shortest possible time

Prolonged labored nasal breathing can lead to oxygen starvation of the brain, which means memory loss, loss of concentration, fatigue, etc. Prolonged colds are associated with rhinitis and acute respiratory viral infections due to complications such as otitis media, sinusitis or tonsillitis, which require mandatory treatment We have a qualified pediatric ENT at the clinic. Thus, an ENT doctor for a child is one of the most important and in-demand specialists.

The work of a pediatric ENT doctor differs significantly from the work of a similar specialist who treats adults. A good pediatric ENT should take into account the characteristics of the child's body, and also be able to find the right approach to the child. This need is especially acute when surgical intervention is necessary. A qualified pediatric otorhinolaryngologist should take into account all the features of the physiology and anatomy of a small patient, and also, together with an anesthesiologist, choose the best anesthesia option.

When should I see a doctor?

Your child needs to consult a good pediatric ENT doctor if you notice the following symptoms:

  • loud crying
  • removable from ears and nose
  • heavy breathing of a child in a dream
  • lack of reaction to sounds
  • labored nasal breathing
  • ear pain, sore throat, pain when swallowing;
  • hoarseness or hoarseness
  • poor appetite
  • snoring

pediatric otorhinolaryngologistIn the presence of one or more of these signs, it is not worth postponing a visit to the pediatric ENT department, since in the late stages of development of some diseases, treatment is carried out only with surgical intervention. Parents of children under one year of age should be especially attentive, since many pathologies at this age do not have pronounced symptoms, and the child cannot yet explain the reason for his crying. A good pediatric ENT will help you figure out what is bothering the child, and will prescribe the optimal treatment.

If your child has recurrent ear, throat, or nose diseases, you also need a pediatric ENT. In Moscow, the help of a qualified pediatric ENT is provided for a fee by the children's clinic of the European Medical Center. In our children's hospital, an ENT doctor will conduct a comprehensive examination and select an individual treatment plan.

The Children's ENT Department of the EMC Children's Clinic is ready to provide professional assistance to children with nasal breathing difficulties, chronic cough, speech retardation, hypertrophy and inflammation of the lymphoid organs.

In the case of a child's hospitalization, the children's ENT in the EMC monitors all changes in his condition and well-being from the moment of admission to discharge.

Diagnostics

The offices of the children's hospital of our ENT doctors are equipped with all the necessary equipment to carry out:

  • Endoscopic examinations

    Possible with general anesthesia

  • Audiological research

    Including multilingual audiometry

In our children's polyclinic, ENT conducts audiological screening of young children, which is mandatory in Western countries, but is rarely used in Russia. A set of objective, reliable and absolutely safe hearing research methods for both the first stage of screening (registration of otoacoustic emission and tympanometry) and the second (diagnostic) stage (registration of auditory evoked potentials, full impedance measurement and gaming audiometry) allows you todetect signs of hearing loss at an early age. The department is attended by a specialized pediatric sign language therapist who is engaged in the diagnosis and correction of hearing disorders in children from a very young age.

In our children's hospital, ENT surgeons perform such operations as: eardrum bypass surgery, tympanoplasty, plastic surgery for congenital anomalies of the ear canal, auricle, cysts and fistulas of the ear and neck, endoscopic operations on the nasal septum, concha, paranasal sinuses, sinus-ballonoplasty of the paranasal sinuses, operations on the tongue, thyroid gland, salivary glands.

Every pediatric ENT has at its disposal devices and medications that can reduce the risk and pain during operations. Surgical procedures in the pediatric ENT department of our clinic are performed at the highest level using the latest technologies and always under general anesthesia. Most of the operations are performed by a pediatric ENT using the endoscopic method with minimal injuries for a small patient, which also significantly reduces the rehabilitation period after surgery and the time spent by the child in the clinic.

In the framework of the interdisciplinary approach practiced in the clinic, in difficult cases, pediatric otorhinolaryngologists work closely withpediatricians, neurologists, sign language specialists (audiologists) andspeech therapists, which allows you to create an optimal individual treatment plan. The clear and prompt cooperation of specialists who have been educated at the best Russian universities and trained in clinics in the USA and Western Europe allows them to treat young patients in the shortest possible time.

What are the symptoms of contacting a pediatric ENT?

Often, problems with the ENT organs of a child are diagnosed by a pediatrician, who directs them to a specialist. Parents can also contact an otorhinolaryngologist on their own. It is necessary to make an appointment for a small patient if you have detected the following symptoms:

  • Acute or chronic ear diseases

Children under 5 years of age are particularly susceptible to otitis media, which occurs due to infection during bathing, playing, and minor accidental injuries. It is necessary to see a doctor if there is discharge from the ear, or infections often recur.

  • Hearing disorders

Parents should be alarmed by the reaction to loud noises, delayed speech development, if the child cannot identify the source of the sound or speaks louder than necessary.

  • Frequent acute respiratory viral infections

A child's predisposition to laryngitis, pharyngitis, sore throats and other inflammatory diseases of the nasopharynx may be associated with hypertrophy of the palatine tonsils or nasopharyngeal tonsil.

  • Persistent nasal congestion

If a child often suffers from rhinitis, sinusitis, breathes through his mouth, complains of nasal congestion, and has a clear or purulent discharge, a doctor's examination may reveal adenoiditis (inflammation of the nasopharyngeal tonsil).

  • Noisy breathing, impaired breathing during sleep

If a child snores, snores, breathes through his mouth during sleep, this can lead to neurological disorders, diseases of the heart and the endocrine system.

  • Nosebleeds

Often such a symptom does not indicate health problems and occurs due to minor damage to blood vessels. But if the bleeding is heavy and occurs more than once a week, an ENT doctor's consultation is necessary.
