Female sexual disorders
A woman's sense of well-being is closely related to well-being in her relationship with her partner, including the intimate sphere of relationships. Difficulties in sexual activity are very common among women, but these problems can only be called dysfunction if they cause distress in a woman, that is, psychological and emotional distress.
Types of female sexual disorders
The main female sexual disorders are: decreased sexual desire, constant or intermittent panic fear of sexual intimacy, orgasmic disorders (inability to achieve orgasm), pain during sexual intercourse or during stimulation of the genitals, vaginismus (involuntary spasm during any kind of vaginal penetration).
Causes of sexual disorders in women
Many interrelated factors can influence the development of sexual dysfunction:
-
Physical: arthritis, lower urinary tract diseases, pelvic surgery, various pain disorders, neurological diseases, as well as taking certain medications.
-
Hormonal: Decreased estrogen levels during menopause lead to changes in genital blood flow, causing sexual dysfunction. Hormonal levels also change dramatically after childbirth and during breastfeeding, which can provoke a decrease in sexual interest.
-
Psychological and social: untreated depression or anxiety can be the cause of a sexual disorder.
Diagnosis of female sexual disorders
First of all, you need to discuss your concerns in detail with your doctor. To describe the medical history in detail, despite the fact that it is often not easy to talk about disorders in the sexual sphere. During the examination, the doctor will evaluate physical changes that may affect sexual pleasure, such as thinning of the vaginal tissues, decreased elasticity of the tissues of the genital area, the presence of pain or scarring. The doctor may suggest that you perform an ultrasound examination of the pelvic floor in order to identify hidden pathology, prescribe laboratory research methods: hormonal profile, smears, infection testing. The psychosexual status is also assessed during the face-to-face consultation: an assessment of the ways and forms of expressing sexuality, the degree of self-esteem of the patient, and the opportunity to participate in full-fledged partnerships.
Treatment of sexual disorders in women
Treatment of female sexual dysfunctions should be etiotropic, that is, aimed at eliminating the cause of the disease, and may include:
-
physical therapy (including feedback therapy (Urostim apparatus), Kegel exercises);
-
medical treatment;
-
hormonal treatment;
-
surgical treatment;
-
peripheral nerve blockages with anesthetics;

We also use a state-of-the-art method of intimate recovery - фототермолиз. The course of procedures helps to cope with such problems as:

weakening of the vaginal walls;
-
dryness of the mucous membrane (atrophy);
